Thoughts on Getting Married

Before your wedding day, there is so much to do - and let’s face it - it doesn’t even cross your mind that things might go astray in the years ahead.

After the wedding real life can impose itself all too quickly, so that you may not take time to nurture and strengthen the bonds that you already share. Yet now is just the time to invest in your future. Make time to:

Share your dreams and plan for them to become real
Be clear about your expectations of each other
Value the different strengths you bring to your marriage, especially those that are usually found only in men or only in women.
Keep making time to talk to each other. Maintain your connection with each other even after you think you have shared everything there is to know
As you talk about things together, notice if you have any unwanted baggage that you have brought with you from earlier times. If you are stuck and cannot remove any blocks to changing, consider asking for some outside help.
