Awareness of the impact of stress, anxiety and modern life pressures, along with mastering a few simple techniques to manage this can make a real difference.

It may be that you are seeking help specifically in this area, or it may be that in seeking help in another area, it becomes apparent that some help in this area would be complimentary.

Modern life makes many demands on us, but because we are absorbed in it we generally don't notice it for what it is. However it will impact on our ability to find the solutions we are looking for in respect of relationships and achieving personal goals. In short if we are driven, stressed and anxious it affect our ability to:

  • Understand what the issues are that are affecting our functioning.
  • Be ourselves and function well.
  • Be available emotionally to others and maintain healthy relationships.
  • Prioritise.
  • Achieve a healthy work life balance.
  • Assert yourself and be confident.

Key Factors behind this trend:

  • Expectations we absorb from the world around us that leads to us comparing ourselves to others, more accurately how we think we measure up compared to others, which is not the same as how we actually do. Ruby Wax has nailed this one in her book "Sane New World" and the idea of Frazzled Cafe's: safe spaces for people to be themselves and notice that others are struggling with this too.
  • Social Media and media in general bombards us with  high expectations, creating an illusion that we are "missing out" in some way.
  • Work pressures, include job insecurity, often long hours, too much work or not enough, the pressure is on to "achieve", but with limited opportunities to do so and with traditional roles such as caring for children and raising a family being de valued.
  • Parents want to be "good" parents but feel driven to achieve as well, creating guilt and dissatisfaction.
  • Property prices make it hard to achieve housing stability, creating more financial pressure and difficulty aspiring to the ideals promoted in media we are all "supposed" to aspire to.

How can I help ?

  • Most importantly helping you stand back and identify what the issues are.
  • Give you the tools to be able to prioritise.
  • Work with you to help you live more in the moment, have realistic expectations of yourself, manage and reduce stress and anxiety.

How is this achieved ?

You are Unique and the support will reflect this, however in common it will involve a positive approach that seeks to build on your strengths, building your confidence through a combination of Mindfulness, Cognitive Behavioural therapy, practical guidance and support as you put the plan we agree to work on into action.
